The Crossings golf course and country club in Montevideo recently changed ownership. The club previously operated as a member-owned corporation. At a meeting on November 11, members voted 43 to 5 to sell the club to Jim Hagen.

Hagen grew up in Montevideo, left after high school, and returned last fall to care for his aging parents. The current board will be dissolved, and Hagen will assume all debts, assets, and liabilities over the course of a 60-day transition period.

Board President Tyler Sachariason said the club has faced declining membership and financial losses since 2010. Hagen said he hopes to reverse that trend with a “community-based approach.” He hopes to host sledding in the winter, and open the pro shop as a warming house. He’s also expanded the business hours. The Crossings is now open from 6am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
