The Montevideo City Council met last night at 7pm at City Hall. General business included the following:

  • The Council authorized the purchase of three new tasers by the Montevideo Police Department.
  • The Council accepted a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council (SMAC) for the creation of a new mural on a staircase on the north end of downtown Montevideo. The mural will be created in summer of 2019.
  • Interim City Manager Richard Almich updated the council on the process to secure city manager recruitment services. The council had been negotiating with two firms: DDH Human Resources and Springsted Waters. However, Springsted Waters contacted Almich on Tuesday to say that their estimate was non-negotiable. Almich recommended that the council move forward with DDH Human Resources. A presentation by DDH that had been scheduled for 6pm Tuesday before the council meeting was cancelled due to weather.
