The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol closed U.S. Highway 212 south of Montevideo, between Chippewa County Road 16 and Yellow Medicine County Road 7 due to flooding. Traffic will be routed on Yellow Medicine County Road 7/Chippewa County Road 20 (also known as the Wegdahl Corner), Chippewa County Road 15, and Chippewa County Road 16. This segment of U.S. Highway 212 will remain closed until further notice.
The sewer is now off in Smith Addition and on Forest Avenue. Porta-potties are available in both areas.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office has announced four road closures: MN 40 at Lac qui Parle lake, County Road 15 west of Waterman’s Bridge, County Road 13 west of Churchill Dam, and County Road 14 going into Madison.
The Minnesota River at Montevideo will continue to rise rapidly today and tomorrow before an estimated 22 foot crest late Friday into Saturday morning. At 7:00am Thursday, the stage was 20.09 feet.
