Revised Update on River Stages for Area Rivers
The Minnesota River in downtown Granite Falls rose 3.23 feet in the past 24 hours. The NWS flood forecast has been revised upward changed and they are now predicting a crest at 893.5 feet on Saturday evening or later that night. That elevation would be just under the 2011 river elevation of 893.55.
We expect the river to spill over the Dike Road northwest of town and into the overflow channel this morning.
The city crews continue flood preparations and Yellow Medicine County has filled sandbags available at the YMC Highway Department in Granite on Hwy. 212.
We will be closely monitoring the situation and updating information as needed.
