A new cooperative public house opened in Granite Falls on Saturday. Bluenose Gopher Public House, located on main street, features a rotating lineup of local wines and beers. The name, “Bluenose Gopher,” is a reference to Andrew Volstead, the Granite Falls-born representative and Prohibition advocate.
The public house is cooperatively owned. “We have over 250 members right now,” said board chairwoman Sarina Otaibi. “It’ll be a while, but in the future members will receive patronage dividends.”
Bluenose Gopher Public House will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursdays; 1 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
