The Montevideo Police Department last week conducted alcohol compliance checks at several Montevideo businesses. During a compliance check, an adult minor enters a licensed liquor establishment and attempts to purchase an alcoholic beverage. To pass the compliance check, the cashier must check the customer’s ID – which shows them to be underage – and refuse to sell them alcohol.
Walmart, the American Legion, Casey’s, Melody Lanes, the VFW, Toppers, Inn Like Flinns, and Groats were all marked as compliant. Only one local business – the municipally owned Fiesta City Liquors – was marked as non-compliant.
