In Chippewa County District Court on Monday, 25-year-old Jawaanza Jones of St. Cloud and 21-year-old Kenneth Roundtree of Franklin were charged with multiple felonies in connection to an armed burglary in Montevideo last week.

The Montevideo Police Department responded to a reported burglary at 420 N 2nd Street at approximately 7:22pm on Monday, April 29. The alleged victim told officers that two individuals had taken several items from their residence forced them at gunpoint to drive them to another location where their vehicle was parked. The victim was threatened with violence, robbed, then kicked out of the vehicle. Roundtree and Jones were later arrested at Donner’s Truck Stop in Clara City. After obtaining a search warrant, officers found two handguns and stolen property inside the vehicle.

Roundtree and Jones face the following charges: first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery, receiving stolen property, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.
