In Lac qui Parle County, damage estimates from spring flooding have officially surpassed one million dollars. A recent FEMA assessment revealed more damage than previously projected, particularly to the ditch systems in Dawson and Boyd. Lac Qui Parle County Emergency Management Director Blain Johnson stated, “Monetarily speaking, this springs flood was one of the worst disasters in county history.”
The estimated damages in Lyon County are just over $688,000.
A majority of these costs are expected to be reimbursed through state and federal disaster funding.
