Prairie Five Community Action recently debuted a new “mobile community center” designed to serve clients in the most remote parts of their five-county service area.
“The purpose of the vehicle is really to make sure people can age where they choose,” said Prairie Five Age-Friendly Coordinator Laura Thomas.
From the outside, the vehicle looks like any other Prairie Five bus. However, the interior is outfitted with Wi-Fi, a big screen TV, laptops, spacious seating, and a coffee maker. Thomas said the vehicle could be used for anything from telehealth conferencing to card parties.
In the below interview, Thomas shares more information about the vehicle and how it might be used in the near future. Residents with ideas for possible uses of the mobile community center are encouraged to call 320-269-6578 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
