US Senator Tina Smith has announced a visit to Montevideo and Granite Falls on Wednesday, October 9.

At 9:15am, Sen. Smith will join Granite Falls Mayor Dave Smiglewski, Yellow Medicine County officials, and other local leaders for a discussion of rural broadband needs in the YM County Administration Building.

At 10:30am, Sen. Smith will meet with Montevideo City Council President Nathan Schmidt, City Administrator Robert Wolfington, and others for a driving tour of three Montevideo businesses. The group will visit The Dryer Doctors, Montevideo Family Dentistry, and Ice Castle Fish Houses. They will return to Montevideo City Hall at approximately 11:30am for a brief meet and greet.

According to a press release, Sen. Smith has conducted several “Rural Economy Tours” in communities around the state. In August, she announced a new bipartisan “Rural Economic Working Group” that she will lead in the U.S. Senate. She said she hopes to spur efforts aimed at restoring rural economic prosperity in Minnesota and across the nation.
