48-year-old Craig Lund of New Ulm was severely injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 northeast of Clara City on Wednesday at approximately 2:37pm. 72-year-old Paulette Kortgard also suffered injuries in the incident.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Harley Davidson operated by Lund was southbound on Highway 23 at the time of the incident. A Dodge Caravan driven by Kortgard was making a right hand turn onto Highway 23 from County Road 1 when the two vehicles collided.
Lund was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening. Kortgard was transported to the Rice ER in Willmar with non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was not involved and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
Highway 23 northeast of Clara City was closed briefly on late Wednesday afternoon as crews cleared the crash scene.
