AREA CHURCH/OTHER CANCELLATIONS:
Watson Lutheran Church cancelled through March.
At the recommendation of the Minnesota Department of Health and Johnson Memorial Health Services, Saron Lutheran and Our Saviour’s Lutheran of Baxter will be cancelling all church services until further notice.
In response to growing concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, Allied Concert Services has canceled the Monday, March 16 concert “Travis Anderson”. In fact, all Allied concerts until April 12 have been canceled. More information is forthcoming regarding the May 12 performance of Popovich Pet Theater. It is our hope that it can can still be held. As of now, this performance is still scheduled. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this important period. We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause.
St. Paul’s Lutheran in Hector and Zion Lutheran in Buffalo Lake have cancelled worship services on Sunday and Wednesday and all activities from March 15th through the 20th. Leaders will reassess each Friday. This is valid for all activities March 15th through 20th– all worship and activities for St. Paul’s Lutheran in Hector and Zion Lutheran in Buffalo Lake have been cancelled.
Big Bend Lutheran Church Canceling all church services and activities for the month of March. This includes postponing our Soup & Sandwich/140th celebration, on March 29th, to a future date.
The Minnesota State High School League is immediately cancelling the Girls Basketball State Tournament. Additionally, all Boys Section and State Basketball Tournaments have been cancelled. Section Speech Tournament events for the week of March 15-21 have been postponed indefinitely.
Clara City Care Center is restricting visitors at this point.
In response to: Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
After careful consideration, Appleton Area Health – Hospital, Care Center and Apple Ridge Assisted Living is no longer allowing visitors. The Clinic will remain open. This policy is effective immediately. This difficult decision was made because the safety of our residents, patients, and community is our top priority. Those impacted by this policy include family, friends, volunteers, and vendors. Under special circumstances, exceptions will be made for family members on a case by case basis. At present, there are NO ACTIVE CASES of COVID-19 at Appleton Area Health. However, the COVID-19 outbreak is a rapidly evolving situation. Appleton Area Health is taking steps to help control the spread of this virus while caring for those who may be affected due to the highly suspected cases of COVID-19 in our surrounding area.
The World Health Organization has now identified the spread of COVID-19 as a pandemic. We will continue to work closely with the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced – in accordance with guidance from state health officials – that the agency will indefinitely postpone all public meetings and project open houses statewide to prevent further spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and well-being of all Minnesotans. This includes all MnDOT-hosted events for at least the next 30 days.
Public engagement on transportation and construction projects remains a top priority for the agency. MnDOT is exploring alternatives, such as virtual and remote options for participation and/or relocating events, and will provide additional updates as they become available.
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres will be following the recommendation of Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health by closing up shop until April 13th. This is just to let you know.
