(Watertown, SD) — A judge has denied a motion for a reduced sentence for a man charged with killing a Watertown teenager back in 2017. Alexis Sanchez pleaded guilty, but mentally ill, in the death of 17-year old Jayden Harley on June 10th of 2017 after a dispute over a noise complaint. Upon arrival, police had found that the teen had been shot to death.

Sanchez was sentenced to fifty years in prison, with ten years suspended. An attorney for Sanchez tried to argue for a reduced sentence saying that his client’s actions were the result of PTSD after serving two tours in Iraq.
